Why you should choose the S8 over the iPhone 7

The war that constantly looms over the tech industry is the one between tech giants Samsung and Apple over superiority. Each mobile giant is very determined at every turn to outdo the other and not seem in any way similar to the other. With the release of the S8 and iPhone 7, techies took the war a step further by comparing and contrasting the two designs. In this article however, we will show you why the S8 is far better than the iPhone 7 hands down.

Display

Samsung S8 has actually been christened as the phone with the best display rating. This isn’t based on a premature decision but the fact that the S8 uses an AMOLED screen. An AMOLED screen is considered the best in the market because it lights itself therefore produces the sharpest images. The iPhone 7 on the other hand is still using a back-lit LCD screen

Additionally, the Samsung S8 has something the Samsung has touted as an infinity display. What this essentially means is that the phone is all screen. This is contrary to the iPhone which has top and bottom bezels. The lack of bezels gives Samsung another advantage. While it is almost the same size as the iPhone 7, it has a larger screen of 6.2 inches as compared to the iPhone’s 4.7inches.

Another important aspect about the screen which is nice to note is that the Samsung S8 is all glass. This means that both the front and the back of the phone is covered in glass. However this is not ordinary glass, it is gorilla glass 5 which means that the phone has a glass protection height of 1.6 meters that is about shoulder height. The iPhone on the other hand uses a combination of materials in the making of their screen but none of them gorilla.

Speed

When it comes to processing power, again Samsung slams Apple because the S8 is using an Octa-core 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 which uses the latest 10nm manufacturing process. Apple’s iPhone 7 on the other hand uses an A10 chip which is less powerful and consumes more power as compared to the Snapdragon 835.

Even in the question of which phone contains more RAM than the other, the S8 beats iPhone 7. This is because while iPhone 7 has a 2GB RAM, the S8 boasts an impressive 4GB RAM.

From this analysis it is easy to see that S8 is comparatively faster than the iPhone 7.

Battery life

When it comes to battery capacity, Samsung s8 has a battery capacity of 3000mAh. This is considerably larger capacity than that of the iPhone whose battery is only 1960mAh.

The S8 also supports both wireless charging and fast charging SB Type-C or a wireless doc. This means it only takes a few minutes for the S8 to charge; an important feature for charging on the go. This is the extreme contrast of iPhone 7 which doesn’t support fast charging and wireless charging.

Water resistance

Onto Water resistance where again Samsung S8 trumps the iPhone 7. While Samsung S8 has IP68 rating, iPhone 7 has an IP67 rating. This essentially means that an S8 can function properly 1.5 m underwater for 30 minutes unlike its counterpart which narrowly missed the mark

Camera

Lastly, let’s compare their cameras. While they have a 12 MP rear camera, the S8 boasts a camera with more superior quality since the focal aperture is f1/.7. This is better than the one in the iPhone which is f1/.8. A look at their front cameras reveals the same. That while the S8 has an 8MP front camera with an f 1/1.7 aperture, the iPhone competes poorly with a 7MP front camera which has an f1/2.2 aperture.
